What is Stress?

The Stress response is a natural protective mechanism that aids survival. In ancient times, this response was useful to protect us from predators and other dangers. Often referred to as the “Fight or Flight” response, it prepares our bodies for immediate action, in order to protect itself from harm.

Modern stressors, and our responses to them, have little in common with those faced by our ancestors. We rarely have to confront a physical threat, with the majority of modern stress occurring at a psycological level.

As our minds perceive psychlogical stress as a threat to the body, our fight or flight response is activated.

However, we rarely have a chance to use this preparedness of the body for immediate action, such as escaping quickly from the situation. This can, in the long run, result in damage to both our physical and mental health.

The stress hormones released, such as adrenaline and cortisol, take their toll on the body and the brain, leading to damage in the long term.

Hypnotherapy for Stress Management and Relief

How can Hypnotherapy Help to Relieve Stress?

Hypnotherapy cannot take away all the stressors in your life, but can help you to manage them and your responses to them. A little “excitement” is useful in some situations, such as your creativity in the work place, but too much stress causes the brain and body to lose its ability to function as well as it could.

The stress response doesn’t want you to think about that sabre toothed tiger that’s about to attack, it wants you to run!

Just going into a hypnotic state is useful to damp down the fight or flight response on its own. It can bring down the Adrenaline and Cortisol levels considerably.

This is called the “Rest and Repose” mode, and is the opposite to Fight or Flight. Learning how to access this hypnotic relaxation yourself with the use of self-hypnosis can help you to take control of the responses that you may have been “living with” for so long.

With Hypnotherapy for Stress Management and Relief, you may find that your productivity increases, health improves, and life in general gets much easier!
